End Of LAUIL502 Evaluation

This module began with us thinking about who we are, and what we’d like to get out this year. As I came out of first with a bit of a sense of what kind of work I enjoy making, I wanted to focus this year on honing in on that and finding a creative process that works for me. I also wanted to learn what it takes to be a creative person in the real world, and pick up more key skills to help me be a self sufficient practitioner. I really enjoyed the seminars we had on learning practical skills and information such as learning about copyright and using SWOT and PEST analysis to analyse other practitioners and ourselves. I felt I took a lot of useful knowledge from this that I can use to protect myself and my practise in the future.

I also took a lot from working as part of a collective. Not only learning the practical parts of what it takes to create a sustainable business model and thinking of things such as funding, grants and organisation, but also that I do actually enjoy working collaboratively. It was really exciting to get to work on a project that I felt very passionately about and I felt would genuinely make a difference and I think this is a value thats at the core of my practice. This project made me feel more confident that starting an organisation such as this one in the future might actually be a realistic goal for myself, especially now I know what grants and help there is available and how to put together a pitch.
Overall I do feel far more prepared for the working world after coming out of this module. However, going forward I would like to use the practical knowledge I have gained this year to further push my practice. By the beginning of next year I would like to be working my way towards being a more self sufficient illustrator with a stronger sense of where me and my work can fit in the world.
