Who are you now- has anything changed your view of your practice?:
- my recent commissions have made me questions what my personal style is and will turn into- at the moment its a mix of text and portraiture mainly
- can I do both?
- often get asked to do text work but I prefer the look of my portraiture
- I do have more of a sense of who I am as a practitioner and how my creative practice works though
- developing more of a sense of how I tackle a project from start to finish which in turn means my project turn over is quicker
- I've also realised that setting my own briefs works best for me- more motivated by projects which I set for myself and I can't seem to find live briefs that mix well with my current practice at the moment
What are your plans for the structure of your future practice- Collaboration/ individual / full employment/ other?:
- some collaboration with other creatives, maybe some with animators (Molly Lester)
- working on some character design intended for use in conjunction with animation
- mostly individual work- self initiated briefs work best for me
- continue working with GirlGang Leeds as the kind of projects the work on match the feel of my work well
- find other people and organisations like Girl Gang to work with
Research goals: What? Where? Who? Why? How?:
- look further into people/ organisations/communities I can work with that match my current interests
- ways to transition into being freelance
- if theres any full jobs I might be interested in within the creative field
- Etsy- how to make more professional listings/ if theres any tools I could be using
- look at grants and loans to start applying for- Princes Trust?
- finding a studio space to work in after uni- Duke?
What does your professional practice need to grow?:
- work space (studio etc)
- start up money- loans for initial costs and materials
- more knowledge of branding myself etc
- a website
- a better idea of how my work fits within the creative community- what I can offer clients
- expanding into different events and markets maybe further afield- to network with customers and clients
